Desktop app release notes · Last updated: 10 October 2026

Release notes for the imece desktop app. imece is in closed beta and versions ship often. This page lists only changes you can see or be affected by, not internal infrastructure work. The newest version is at the top.

v0.1.7 · 10 October 2026

  • If you are coming from v0.1.6 or earlier, install this version by hand once. The Mac package in those versions is unsigned, so the “Update” button does not install the new version; it opens the download page. Get the DMG there and install it the way you did the first time; your data stays in place.
  • The Mac app (DMG) is now signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. You should not need the “Open Anyway” step on first launch. macOS may treat the signed package as a new app, so the notification permission may be asked for once more.
  • On a Mac, “Update” can now install the new version. It downloads and verifies first (SHA-256 checksum, signature, notarization), then asks: “Restart” (10-second countdown, you can cancel), “Install on quit” or “Later” (in 1 hour or tomorrow at 09:00). If agent sessions are running, it tells you how many first; you can resume them after the update. If imece is not in a writable folder such as Applications (for example, you opened it straight from the DMG), the button opens the download page.
  • Windows: the installer (setup.exe) is still unsigned. If the “Windows protected your PC” window appears, choose “More info → Run anyway”. If you installed with setup.exe, “Update” opens the download page. imece is also on the Microsoft Store; if you installed from the Store, updates come from the Store and the in-app update bar does not appear.
  • MCP no longer stays on an old version after an update. If imece's MCP finds at startup, or in an open session, that it is older than the app, it switches to the new version and tells the client the tool list changed. Whether new tools appear in the same session depends on the client; if they do not, restart the session. On Windows this refresh is not available: restart the session to get new tools. To turn it off, set the IMECE_MCP_YENILEME=0 environment variable.
  • Before an update changes the database schema, imece backs up imece.db and keeps the last two backups. If the backup fails and the change is one the previous version could not open, the update stops. imece doctor shows the latest backup, its date and how to restore it.
  • Incoming handoffs that have passed their expiry are now listed in imece status and in the team overview the agent sees. Before, status could report “0 waiting” while these were open.
  • In the update bar, screen readers no longer read the countdown second by second. When the bar closes, focus moves to the page content.
  • Security fixes and stability improvements in relay and daemon communication, the invite flow and the updater.

v0.1.6 · 9 October 2026

  • imece (daemon, CLI and MCP) is built with Go 1.26.9, which includes security patches.
  • There are no other visible changes in the app in this version.

v0.1.5 · 9 October 2026

  • On a computer that has not joined a team, imece opens with a welcome screen: join your team, connect your agent, connect your project. You pick the language (Türkçe or English) there.
  • After you join, a short tour runs once the first time you open the app (projects, To-dos, Sessions, the team panel). It does not start on its own for people who already use imece. The “?” button at the bottom right shows how-tos and restarts the tour.
  • Agent choice: Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, another MCP-capable agent, or no agent. imece connects only Claude Code for you; you open Codex and Cursor from Sessions with New session. For other MCP clients, the “?” panel has a copyable mcpServers setting.
  • On macOS and Linux, the permissions of the ~/.imece folder are tightened so only your user can open it (0700). The release package no longer includes debug files.

v0.1.4 · 9 October 2026

  • In chat you can turn a message into an issue: “Convert to issue” in the message's context menu (right-click) or on the button in the message row. The issue window opens with the message's channel and text; the summary field starts empty and you write it.
  • The ⌘K / Ctrl+K search has a new “Issues” section. It searches the key, summary, description and acceptance criteria of issues, shows up to 5 results, and counts the rest as “N more issues match”.
  • Issue features show only when “Settings › Developer tools” is on. It is off by default.
  • On macOS, when you close the window with X, imece keeps running in the background. The one-time notification that says so is now shown only if notification permission is granted; it is not recorded as shown before that, and appears the first time you close the window after you grant permission.

v0.1.3 · 9 October 2026

  • A new “pm” role is in the role list on the join screen. Instead of asking you, agents hand product decisions (scope, priority, behavior users will see) to the “pm” role as a handoff, with the options. If the team has no “pm” role, the question comes to you as before. An agent is not required to follow this.
  • When the PM closes the handoff, the answer is recorded as a team decision that everyone on the team and their agents can see. The PM sees a note about this while closing. Only closing a task handoff creates a decision; an info note, a card handoff and a rejection do not.

v0.1.2 · 8 October 2026

  • In-app update notice: shortly after imece opens, and then at 6-hour intervals, it checks for a new version. If there is one, a bar appears at the top.
  • “Update” can install the new version only in a signed Mac package. From this version to v0.1.6, the packages on the download page were unsigned, so the button opens the download page and you install the new version yourself. Your data stays in place.
  • On Windows there is no in-app install: if you installed with setup.exe, the bar tells you about the new version and you do the install.

v0.1.1 · 8 October 2026

  • The handoff card in To-dos is smaller. At first it shows the title, metadata, the related decision and a one-sentence summary. “Detail” and “Attached context” open and close with separate buttons.
  • Handoffs can now carry an optional short summary. The sending agent writes it for a teammate who does not read code, and the card shows it. Older versions don't show the summary.
  • Records moved with imece import show the original author's name. The record stays under the identity of whoever moved it.

v0.1.0 · 8 October 2026

  • The first downloadable version for closed beta teams. Desktop app: Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel, macOS 12 or later) and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). A command-line tool is also available if you want it: macOS, Linux (x86_64 and ARM64) and Windows. The release publishes a SHA-256 checksum for each file in SHA256SUMS.
  • The Windows installer does not ask for administrator permission. The app installs for your user only and is removed from “Settings → Apps”.
  • A warning may appear on first launch, because the packages in this version were unsigned. Mac: under “System Settings → Privacy & Security”, at the bottom of the page, choose “Open Anyway”. Windows: in the “Windows protected your PC” window, choose “More info → Run anyway”. You only need this on first launch. If the command-line tool you downloaded on a Mac is blocked: xattr -d com.apple.quarantine imece-darwin-*. The Mac package was unsigned until v0.1.7; the Windows installer is still unsigned.
  • The app does not update itself in this version. Download the new version from the download page and install it the same way; your data stays in place. The in-app update notice arrived in v0.1.2.
  • On macOS, when you close the window with X, the app closes but imece keeps running in the background. A one-time notification says so.
  • The project key from a .imece/config.json committed to a repo is valid only in the checkout where you selected that project, and in its worktrees.
